Powder coating: the finish that does the work
Almost every steel office unit sold today is powder-coated, not wet-painted. Dry pigment is applied electrostatically, then baked so it flows into a hard, even film. The result seals the steel against oxidation at normal office humidity, resists chipping, scratching and cleaning chemicals, and comes without the solvents of liquid paint. Modern formulations are moving away from PFAS and can carry recycled content.
